RE: Spring Commencement 2018 Staff Volunteers
Commencement day is a celebration of student accomplishment, and what better way for staff to show their support than by volunteering? To make the day run smoothly and provide an enjoyable atmosphere for our graduates and guests, we need staff members like you to work at the event. This day would not be a success without your help!
On Friday, June 15, 2018, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences will hold two ceremonies, at 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to accommodate our large graduating class.
Your dedication and participation are critical. Working at both ceremonies would be greatly appreciated. Please consider this request as we are stretched thin for both ceremonies. Here are a few other guidelines:
For staff working the morning ceremony (9:00 a.m.)
Please arrive at the ARC Pavilion by 6:45 a.m. if you plan to have breakfast with us. Volunteers will begin working promptly at 7:00 a.m.; we must have the Pavilion set up by 7:45 a.m. so the doors can be opened to the audience at 8:00 a.m. The morning ceremony should be finished by 11:30 a.m. If you are working the afternoon ceremony as well, plan to stay for a complimentary lunch.
For staff working the afternoon ceremony (2:00 p.m.)
Please arrive at the ARC Pavilion by 11:30 a.m. lunch will be provided and shifts will begin promptly at 12 noon. We must have the Pavilion set up by 12:45 p.m. so the doors can be opened to the audience at 1:00 p.m. The afternoon ceremony should end by 4:00 p.m., and if everyone helps clean up their areas we could be finished by 4:30 p.m.
Rehearsal: The rehearsal is Wednesday, June 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the ARC Pavilion. Section leaders will be introduced and we will review each section’s assigned tasks. It is important everyone attend the rehearsal. We will have a chance to hear the student speakers’ remarks. This rehearsal is not for members of the graduating class.
RSVP: We need to hear in advance how you plan to help. Please complete this online RSVP form no later than May 18, 2018.
If you have questions regarding the ceremony contact the commencement coordinator at commencement@caes.ucdavis.edu.
